Why Choose Us

I am a blind, queer, neuro divergent white woman who has worked formally in the digital accessibility space for just over three years. These intersectionalities play a huge role in defining my approaches to digital accessibility and inclusive design.

The work doesn’t stop for me when the work-day ends, because I live in the inequity I fight for every day. I am often known for giving guidance that can feel contrary to “best practice” ,because let’s be real, best practice is often written by white, straight, non-disabled people. At the end of the day though, what matters to me is that digital experiences are accessible and usable to everyone; that all people see themselves represented in digital content; and that we each achieve true equity on this big place we call the internet

At SM Accessibility Consulting, disability isn’t an afterthought—it’s our starting point. Our work is grounded in lived experience, starting with our founder, Sarah, a queer, blind, and neurodivergent woman. That perspective shapes every audit, training, and recommendation we deliver. We don’t guess what inclusive design looks like—we’ve lived what exclusion feels like.
